"Love, laughter, kindness and joy - life's essential ingredients - don't diminish when shared; they multiply."

When prompted to create anything for the annual d.school master's program Personal Statements event, I chose to play with my favorite things: plants, repurposed glass jars and disco balls. And use these fine elements to create an experience where people could walk out feeling full of love and light, and carrying a gift to take home that could - in theory- continue to multiply this feeling well beyond their short visit to my installation.

PropagAtion:

As a part of my mission to extend the useful life of the goods in our possession, thus lessening the amount disposed of, I collected used glass jars from my community and propagated pothos plants in them to gift to visitors of my program's annual "Personal Statements" event.

With the caveat that each plant must be named prior to being taken home, 73 people were able to enter my installation and choose a propagation in an upcycled jar that "spoke to them", along with an instruction card for their care and further propagation for gifting.

My intention was for these plants to enter caring homes that would continue to multiply them beyond my purview - bringing joy and light to homes far beyond the initial gifted plants.

This project was a unique opportunity to share my ethos and favorite things - plants, repurposed glass jars and mirrors - with strangers.
